    Requirements for a start-up visa

    Must have a business that qualifies

    • Must hold at least 10% of the whole voting rights for all shares of the company
    • Must hold at least 50% of all the voting rights for all shares of the company along with the designated organization
    • To gain the support of an investor group, a business incubator, or a capital fund, you must put your business idea through and convince the organizations that it is worth supporting
    • The whole process of putting your business idea forward will be different for every organization
    • If your business pitch yields successful results, you will be rendered a letter of support that needs to be included in the start-up visa application.

    Meet the language requirements

    • To show that you meet the Canadian Language requirements, even at the minimum (CLB) benchmark 5 in English/French reading, speaking, listening, and writing - you must take a language test from an approved organization.
    • You need to show that you have enough funds to support yourself and your dependents once you arrive in Canada. The amount varies according to your family size.
